Covid 19 recovery

We recognise the impact and challenges that Covid-19 has created, on our staff, clients, suppliers, and the wider communities within which we operate. Companies have a leadership role to take in aiding recovery. We supported clients with their transition to digital working and new collaborative ways of working virtually, which allowed them to rapidly embrace new ways of working in order to stay connected and productive. Throughout the pandemic, Oaklin continued to practically support our partner charities, for example supporting YoungMinds to help them restructure to tackle the exponential increase in mental health problems among children and young people resulting from lockdown.

Tackling economic inequality

To tackle economic inequality, we aim to create opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment, and training. We provide placement opportunities to people who come from less advantageous backgrounds who may face barriers to entering the workforce to help them gain skills and experience in the workplace. Oaklin employees also speak to students at universities and talk about consulting as an exciting career path. Through our work and supply chains we always demonstrate a fair and responsible approach by always paying suppliers on time and we are dedicated in managing cyber security to provide a secure workplace.

Fighting climate change

We place great importance on sustainability and improving education and awareness of environmental challenges. To support the fight against climate change, Oaklin has partnered with The Word Forest Organisation, a UK based charity that plants trees, builds classrooms and supports women’s empowerment groups in rural Kenya. We host a variety of internal events focused on aspects of sustainability and we have supported external events, including the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). Our office also contains green spaces and plants, we offset all our carbon emissions, including our office emissions and all business travel, with a gold-standard organisation.

Inclusion is such an important part of who we are and how we work.We create opportunities for employment and actively look for people from diverse backgrounds. We have an Inclusion Charter that outlines ways we are inclusive through our focus on our speech (what we say) and our actions (what we do). Our Oaklin Women’s Network aims to empower and support our women in the workplace to reach their fullest potential, whilst also empowering our men to act as allies. We support people with either a physical or mental impairment to thrive within the workforce, we actively review requirements and promote additional flexibility for people with disabilities. Oaklin has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery that is communicated to all suppliers, contractors, and business partners from the outset.

Wellbeing

We support health and wellbeing through our Wellness Pledge. We promote an environment that encourages people to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to wellness in a way that is mutually beneficial for everyone, with members of the leadership team taking the lead by openly sharing their own mental health journeys. We provide a catalogue of resources and training to support employees including private healthcare which includes mental health cover and hosting podcast discussions on wellbeing. Oaklin also raises money and provides pro-bono consulting support with our partner charity YoungMinds, a charity that works to tackle the mental health problems among children.
