Mega-project Delivery

Oaklin were engaged to support a joint venture of UK transmission operators execute a portfolio of multi-billion £ transformative project in the Great Grid upgrade. An effective Joint Venture Project function that is scalable, proactive, and collaborative was deemed critical to the success of the JV’s portfolio of projects. Oaklin have led the design and implementation of an integrated set of integral processes and artefacts, built to adapt to the nuances of a complex and high value project. Through current state analysis, requirement and capability development, and embedding change, the JV is set up for success.

M&A

A client with international operations was struggling to make progress with establishing a new joint venture (JV). Oaklin was engaged to assist in setting up the new entity and led the design and implementation of the end-to-end commercial and operational models, whilst overseeing any commercial and legal agreements. Oaklin helped clarify the motivating factors for each party, de-personalised points of contention, and held the collective accountable for the revised agreement. Oaklin supported a range of key technology selections to support the business and created an enduring operating model incorporating the best ways of working from each of the businesses.

Regulatory Change

Oaklin was engaged by a major UK energy supplier to rapidly navigate a highly complex landscape to respond to a major new regulatory license condition. In just three weeks, a small Oaklin team conducted an intensive options analysis. The Oaklin team rapidly determined success measures and priorities, worked with experts across the business to understand changes required and assessed technology and process solutions that could be implemented in the time available. This culminated in a strategic options analysis and clear recommendation, which carefully considered the costs, risks, implications and strategic value of each potential course of action.

Digital Technology

Oaklin were engaged by a major energy company to mature the product function of their central Cloud team. Delivery had been impacted by significant demand on technical resources to compensate for poor documentation of business requirements and delivery processes. Oaklin instilled a new product-centric delivery approach in the Cloud Centre of Excellence, defining process, practices and tooling, embedding agile principles and supporting the transition to pro-active demand management and delivery. This included requirements documentation, efficient work scoping and strategy-driven backlog prioritisation. Delivery and launch of two Cloud Platforms was accelerated, evolving into a Platform as a Product enduring state.
